I Cor. 4:5 "Therefore judge nothing before the
time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and
will make manifest the counsels of the hearts..."
Investigative reporting often places long-entrenched and
gross injustices before the spotlight of public scrutiny. At the Lord's return he
"brings to light the hidden things of darkness" - personal and public wrongs are
exposed.
Joseph Pulitzer, founder of the Pulitzer Prizes, is
credited as being the trend-setter. His work began with the purchase of Staats-Zeitung
in 1874 [German language paper] and the St. Louis Post and Dispatch papers in
1878.
The continuous exposes began arousing public consciousness.
